A simple way to add structure without taking away burrowing space.
The Nibbly™ Habitat Loft creates an organised upper surface for a food bowl, sand bath, lightweight hide or selected habitat accessories, while keeping the area underneath open for bedding and sheltered activity.
Made from unpainted pine, each platform arrives flat-packed with screw-in wooden legs and a detachable rung ramp. Choose the shape, size, ramp position and platform thickness that best fits your enclosure.
Designed around real habitat use
- More usable surface area: organises selected accessories above the bedding.
- Open space below: leaves room for bedding, nesting and sheltered movement.
- Flexible layout: choose an L-shaped or U-shaped platform and left- or right-side ramp.
- Two thickness options: Standard 9 mm or Reinforced 12 mm L-shaped platforms.
- Simple assembly: wooden legs screw into fitted metal inserts without tools.
- Flat-packed: compact for storage and cross-border delivery.
Species suitability
- Best suited for: dwarf hamsters and Syrian hamsters, also known as golden hamsters.
- Also suitable for: pet mice when the platform is positioned securely within an appropriate enclosure.
- Conditional use: gerbils may use the platform, but their stronger chewing behaviour requires frequent inspection of the ramp hooks, inserts and surrounding wood.
- Not currently recommended for fancy rats: the supplier has not provided a verified load rating, and the 8 cm ramp is narrower than we would prefer for adult rats.
- Not suitable for: guinea pigs, chinchillas or rabbits.

Materials and construction
Unpainted pine platform, wooden screw-in legs, metal threaded inserts and metal ramp hooks. Standard platforms are approximately 9 mm thick. Reinforced L-shaped platforms are approximately 12 mm thick; the ramp remains approximately 9 mm thick.
Setup
- Screw each leg firmly into the fitted insert.
- Attach the ramp to the selected opening.
- Place the legs on the solid enclosure base before arranging bedding around them. Do not balance the platform on loose bedding.
- Keep soft bedding around the platform and position it away from hard or sharp objects.
Care
Spot-clean with a lightly damp cloth and allow the wood to dry completely before returning it to the habitat. Do not soak. Remove wet bedding promptly to help protect the unfinished surface.
Important guidance
- Inspect edges, joints and metal fittings before first use and during routine cleaning.
- Stop using the platform if it becomes unstable, splintered or chewed enough to expose hardware.
- This is habitat furniture, not a chew product.
- Natural grain and colour will vary. Supplier measurements are taken manually and may vary slightly.
- The platform does not replace adequate enclosure floor space, deep bedding, hides or other species-appropriate enrichment.
